Getting ready for the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards
The updated Aged Care Quality Standards come into effect from July 2025. Aged care providers must ensure their workforce is trained and competent in delivering care aligned with these new standards — with a strong emphasis on outcomes for individuals.
Key changes to know
- There are now 7 standards, streamlined from the previous 8
- Emphasis has shifted further toward dignity, choice, and outcomes for individuals
- Requirements around mandatory training, competency assessment, and governance have been strengthened
- Learning must be evidenced, documented, and role-relevant
