World Elder Abuse Awareness Day - June 15th

June 15th marks the International Day of Awareness for Elder Abuse. Elder Abuse is prevalent throughout the world and has profound impacts on individuals and their facilities. Elder abuse includes any conduct causing harm to an older person, including physical, social, financial, psychological or sexual abuse. It can also include mistreatment and neglect. The abuse is overwhelmingly carried out by people the older person knows and trusts such as a family member of carer. Aged Care Learning Solutions has developed a number of learning activities relating to the signs and features of Elder Abuse as well as ways to identify and prevent it both in residential aged care and in the community.
